Preventive care

Preventative Dental Care

The dentists and dental hygienists at South Point Family Dentistry will work with you to create a customized preventative care plan. Sealants are a popular choice to prevent dental decay. These thin, plastic coatings are applied to your molars, premolars and deep grooves, all areas that can be hard to clean and susceptible to decay. Sealants can last for many years but should be checked at your regular dentist visits.

Easy to Apply

Sealants are easily applied and the process only takes a few minutes for each tooth. Once the sealants are in place, practice proper home care and eat a balanced diet to ensure they last for years to come.

Fluoride Treatments to Fight Tooth Decay

Fluoride is a naturally occurring mineral that can also prevent tooth decay. Topical fluoride strengthens your teeth and makes them more resistant to decay. It is recommended that children have fluoride professionally applied twice a year as part of their checkups. Systemic fluoride also strengthens your teeth via a number of means. It appears in most food and in our water supplies but is also available as a prescribed supplement. However, the amount of fluoride a child ingests should be closely monitored by your dentist or dental hygienist.
