Dr. Gary McCord

Dr. Gary McCord of South Point Family Dentistry is a proud Gaston County native. Dr. McCord treats his patients with care, focusing on comfort and high quality.

He graduated with Honors in Pre-Med from North Carolina State University. Dr. McCord then graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree (D.D.S.). The Following year, Dr. McCord was chosen to serve an additional year of advanced training in the Dental Residency Program at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, now known as Carolinas Medical Center.

Dr. McCord is an active member of the Belmont Rotary Club and enjoys history and aviation

Dr. Christopher Maino

Dr. Christopher Maino was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He came to North Carolina after practicing dentistry in Michigan for over 20 years. Dr. Maino is willing and eager to listen to his patients, and to help them solve their dental needs together.

He finished his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan. He then attended and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Maino was selected for advanced training and attended the General Practice Residency at The Medical College of Ohio.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Maino enjoys spending time with his wife and children. Many of his favorite activities include golf, hockey, exercise and cooking.

Dr. Katie Macken

Dr. Katie Macken was born in Baltimore, Maryland and practiced Dentistry in Connecticut before escaping the snow and long winters. Dr. Macken understands that dental treatment options may be confusing, but she likes to ensure her patients are well informed and comfortable with their dental treatment.

Before dental school, she attended High Point University and graduated from Towson University with a Bachelors Degree in Biology. Dr. Macken went on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. After graduating from dental school, she received advanced training in the General Practice Residency at The Danbury  Hospital in Connecticut, an affiliate site of The Yale University School of Medicine.

Dr. Macken loves to travel, spend time with her husband & sons and be outdoors; but NOT camping!

Dr. Sonya Kumar 

Dr. Sonya Kumar was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She chose dentistry because she believes it is the perfect combination of art and science. Dr. Kumar strives to focus on the concerns of her patients and provide the best quality of care in a compassionate and gentle

She went to Wake Forest University for her undergraduate studies where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Biology. Afterward, she then went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (D.M.D.) degree from the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine. After graduating from dental school, she was accepted to receive advanced training in the General Practice Residency at Vidant Medical Center at East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine.

Aside from dentistry, Dr. Kumar loves to travel and stay active with cycling and barre classes. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
